War over Oude IJsselstreek: Westendorp

June 1943. Another aircraft crashes with the complete aircrew still onboard. This was a Vickers Wellington Mk X. One hour later two bombs exploded.

Two aircrew have their field grave here, because they never have been found and are remembered in the Runnymede memorial in Sussex. A complete Canadian crew of five airmen die. The three remaining aircrew, pilot, tail gunner and navigator are buried at the General Cemetery in Varsseveld.
