War over Oude IJsselstreek: Megchelen

October 1942. A Vickers Wellington Mk III is taking part in a precision bombardment. Flying by daylight. There is great risk for discovery and Unteroffizier Bugaj intercepts the bomber in his Focke Wulf.

The shooting sets the aircraft on fire and it crashes. It narrowly misses a farmhouse. The residents react quickly, but are unable to do anything because of danger for explosions. It turned out two bodies were found a little further. Three Englishmen and a Canadian die. Also John Samuel Lee, unknown origin.
